If you’re anything like me, chances are at some point you had stripper girlfriends. Why wouldn’t you? They’re usually fairly slutty, filled with self loathing and have cash and drugs. But for whatever reason, they do tend to get horribly disfigured. So what do you do? Develop experimental drugs to fix the scars and turn yourself into a monster in order to kill hookers and steal their glands so your stripper can stay hot. Which is exactly the plot of ATOM AGE VAMPIRE! Also known as Seddok, l’erede di Satana, this Italian 1960 lurid melodrama is readily available for about a dollar in many cheap movie packs and it is worth every penny but if you can try to pay about .35 cent.
I love the term “Atom Age”. It reminds me of silver age comics like CHALLENGERS OF THE UNKNOWN and sci-fi pictures like THE ATOMIC SUBMARINE, THE H-MAN and CALTIKI, THE IMMORTAL MONSTER While ATOM AGE VAMPIRE has some radiation, it has no vampire and is closer to EYES WITHOUT A FACE and THE AWFUL DR. ORLOFF. Sadly, the version I saw is pretty chopped up and missing fifteen or so minutes. I haven’t found an uncut version anywhere in the twenty minutes I sorta spent looking for it so I can only conclude it is a lost film, up there with LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT, LINDA AND ABILENE and the “A Most Illogical Holiday” episode of STAR TREK.
