OCT 31st- GHOSTWATCH

HALLOWEEN AT LAST!

GHOSTWATCHWidely known in the U.K., the legendary fake dockumentary that scared the shit out of a lot of people in 1992 is not so well known in the States. It was way ahead of its time and is still very cool. Way before BLAIR WITCH and the recent onslaught of fake ghost shows, it was the fake ghost show that made its mark. Done as a fake live broadcast, it examines poltergeist activity in a house that centers around a bizarro spirit nicknamed “Pipes”. It’s really quite cool and a lot of the fun is seeing the quick glimpses of “Pipes” as the show goes on. It’s available as an import and is really something you should see. So watch it here. I suppose it’s as close as anyone has come to duplicating the insanity of the famous Orson Welles “War of the Worlds” broadcast, what with people going batshit from seeing it.

OCT 30TH- THE WACKY WORLD OF DR.MORGUS

This is the best flick on the list! THE WACKY WORLD OF DR. MORGUS

One of the first horror host from the original Shock Theater syndication package, MORGUS THE MAGNIFICENT in his own feature film! From 1962, the very peak of the Monster craze comes this New Orleans made oddity. The very best of regional film making as it’s goofy, weird and totally unique.

Dr. Momus Alexander Morgus invents an instant people machine that draws the attention of some spies from Microvania. It’s got his sorta faithful sidekick Chopsley, his comatose wife Zelda, a cool hearse, a monkey, and the Queen of ChaCha herself, Chris Owens!

It’s practically impossible to find any footage of the original group of horror hosts and this movie is a nice look back at that freaky time when old monster movies were everywhere on the tube and kids built monster models, read monster comics and FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND
